I ran so fast that my world blurred

Colours blending into thick brown

Around me and serving only to

Slow me so

I pushed on

I pushed past those songs which rushed into

Panicked screeches of sound and

Embraces that once might have been soft

Were whipped into a frenzy of flagellation

Leaving red red lines of my impatience

Upon my unfeeling flesh numbed as it was by

The screaming of the air as I

Broke through its fluidity and only now

As I lie shaking

Broken by your body

Ears haunted by the echoes of you

Do I begin to stop and look around

At all this glowing life

Life to live and wonder and love and

Not race through to win
